"Jazz in the Diamond District," Official Selection for the Urbanworld Film Festival
August 29, 2008

Soblu Production’s debut feature film, Jazz in the Diamond District, was recently announced as an official selection for the 2008 Urbanworld  Film Festival, which runs from September 10 – 14th in New York. The film is a 79-minute, urban drama that chronicles the summer of one Washington, D.C., native, Jasmine "Jazz" Morgan, who joins a Go-go band in hopes of becoming a singing sensation. This rhythmic journey through the nation’s capital was shot entirely on-location in Washington, D.C. and highlights the rarely-seen residential neighborhoods of the city and the volatile energy of Go-go music and the D.C. underground hip-hop scene.

The first single from the film’s soundtrack, “Like Us,” performed by D.C.’s premiere hip-hop group, Likeblood, is impacting radio across the country. The groups’ video debuted on MTV Jams in July and will be featured at a soundtrack listening session in NYC during the festival. The films’ soundtrack was produced by super-producer, Chucky Thompson, and features a variety of D.C. artists including Raheem DeVaughn, Likeblood, Tabi Bonney, Mambo Sauce,  UnCalled 4 Experience, MTB4’s DeAngelo Redman and up-and-coming chanteuse, Chris.
