Montreal, Canada (MMD Newswire) February 16, 2009 -- The Department of Continuing Education at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) offers an immersion program in French language that combines jazz music sessions, cultural visits, and gourmet outings.

A ONE-OF-A-KIND LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
Participants in this new "French and Jazz" program will have all their senses stimulated. Indeed, this unique experience will give them the opportunity to participate in a week of :
- practical and interactive French courses at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM)
- jazz concerts at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal (FIJM)
- cultural and tourist activities in North America's largest French-speaking city: Montreal
- gourmet outings exploring the foods and wines of Québec
This program is designed for people aged 18 and above wanting to begin learning the French language, or to improve their French-language skills to allow them to travel confidently and independently in French-speaking countries.
Levels offered: Beginner / Elementary / Pre-intermediate. This course could also serve as a good review for those in upper levels.
PROGRAM FEE AND REGISTRATION
Program fee: $ 770 CAD - Taxes included (lodging and transportation not included)
Registration fee: $ 100 CAD - Taxes included
Insurance for foreign participants: $ 75 CAD - Taxes included

The above fee includes:
- welcoming breakfast;
- French language training (classroom instruction: 12 hours);
- training material; guided cultural visits and interactive discovery tours led by instructors in French (8 hours);
- gourmet meal in a restaurant in Old Montreal, accompanied by French instructors;
- 1 ticket for an indoor concert by a big-name jazz performer at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal ;
- the Festival kit that includes an official Festival tee-shirt, a shoulder-strap bag with the Festival logo, a pass allowing free entry to the jam sessions at the Montréal Hyatt Regency and at the Salon de la Guitare, a book of discount coupons worth $ 135;
