HOMEZILL™ SAVES HOME BUYERS $10,000 ON HOME PURCHASES

September 19, 2007 – Today, a team of RE/MAX Realtors® announced the launch of HomeZill, their new system of Internet-assisted home buying which can save buyers an average $10,000 on the purchase of a new home. Through its web site,  www.HOMEZILL.com , buyers can search both MLS (Multiple Listing Service) listings and New Home communities and map properties using a Google™ Satellite Map interface.

“By utilizing technology and the efficiency of the Internet, we can afford to credit home buyers 1½  to 2% of the sales price of their home”, says David Dowies, HomeZill’s founder and a RE/MAX Realtor®. “The commission credit can amount to $10,000 on a $500,000 purchase”.

HomeZill is the first website run by top producing RE/MAX agents following the revolutionary online real estate business model.  "The Web has become essential for attracting savvy, independent home buyers, but typical sites tend to lump everyone together.”  HomeZill combines technology with a team of experienced Realtors® to empower you through the entire buying and selling process.  “Currently 82% of buyers start their home search online, and 65% actually find their home before ever contacting a Realtor”, comments Tyler Freiheit, a HomeZill Realtor.

Most real estate websites provide undifferentiated search engines with limited capabilities. Homezill.com offers a much more sophisticated search of both MLS and New Homes databases.  You can also make an offer on a home or list a property online, saving thousands of dollars on Realtor commissions.

The process is simple:
•    Buyers search for and find potential homes that interest them
•    Buyers get pre-approved with their lender or one of HomeZill’s preferred lenders
•    HomeZill schedules appointments and buyers tour the prospective homes in person
•    Their HomeZill agent then prepares, presents, and negotiates the offer

“Once that’s done, we schedule the inspections, conduct walk-throughs and coordinate closing”, says Rob Allocca, a HomeZill Realtor.  At closing, and with the approval of the lender, the commission credit can be used to cover closing costs or even provide cash back.

"We've created a website that is as informative and personal as your trusted Realtor, and as interactive as the biggest Real Estate websites," Dowies said. "HomeZill.com fills a void in online Real Estate by offering detailed information coupled with a Google™ Mapping interface, along with the tools and insight that let consumers make informed decisions.  In this market, home buyers and sellers want every dollar they can save, HomeZill is a great solution for the web-savvy consumer who prefers a more hands-on real estate experience.”  Homezill.com currently serves Northern Virginia, DC and Southern Maryland, and plans on expanding to other regions in the upcoming future.
