Hockey Company Initiates Contraversial Word Ban
Vancouver, British Columbia -- September 26, 2006 -- Puckmasters, a Vancouver, Canada based Franchisor of Hockey Training Centers has banned a list of what CEO Pete Fry calls ‘weak words’.
"Try" is at the top of a new list of banned words throughout the Puckmasters systems as directed by CEO Pete Fry today. The word made famous by Yoda in the Movie Star Wars telling main character Luke Skywalker “Luke! There is no ‘try’ you ‘do’ or you ‘do not’”
Try has been a common word in the english language for centuries and now Fry is banning it throughout Puckmasters a North American wide chain of Hockey Training Centers which focuses on teaching hockey players hockey skills and superior mental characteristics.
The list of other words banned by Fry throughout Puckmasters are: ‘if’, ‘can’t’, ‘hope’, ‘but’, ‘problem’, ‘don’t’, and ‘why’. The list is designed to increase the quality of the management and coaching throughout the Puckmasters Franchise Chain. “The Quality of your coaching and management is the quality of your communication” says Fry. “and the quality of your communication is largely based on what words you use when you communicate”.
So what happens if you are an franchise owner, coach or employee of Puckmasters and you use one the banned words? “It’s a fine” Fry says. “two dollars per word used”
Can State or Provincial Labor laws come down on Fry for using fines to stop these words being said? “Let them ‘try’” Fry says with a chuckle.
