Hip-Hop Single ‘Don’t Matter’ Hits #2 On Billboard Magazine Hot 100
Producer/performer Tony Love who co-wrote ‘Don’t Matter’ with Grammy-nominated Akon says it matters being #2 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Atlanta, Georgia / March 5, 2007 – Akon’s ‘Don’t Matter’ from the album ‘Konvicted’ hit #2 on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100.
“It’s incredibly exciting to be involved in a song seeing so much success,” says Tony Love, who co-wrote ‘Don’t Matter’ with hip hop artist. “This matters.”
The Billboard Hot 100 is the music industry standard in the U.S. for measuring the popularity of singles. It’s issued weekly by Billboard magazine. Rankings are based on airplay and sales.
Love also appears in the ‘Don’t Matter’ music video.
The song ‘Don’t Matter’ is featured in a Verizon Wireless to promote
V CAST services and mobile music capabilities on Verizon Wireless handsets. Akon acts in the commercial becoming the first music artist to appear in a Verizon Wireless TV Ad. Love has performed with an eclectic group of recording artists including R&B/hip-hop, classic soul, rock ‘n’ roll and blues artists. He’s played guitar or bass on recent hits from various recording artists including: India Arie (‘I Am Not My Hair’), T.I., Kelis (‘I'm Bossy’), Young Jezzy, Rick Ross, Obie Trice (‘Snitch’) and Gwen Stefani (‘Sweet Escape’).
Love has toured with such diverse artists LL Cool J, Luther Vandross, ‘N Sync and Akon.
Love is preparing to go on tour to perform with Akon and Grammy-award winning singer Gwen Stefani. He plays guitar on her single ‘Sweet Escape’ which has reached #4 on Billboard magazine’s Hot 100.
Love released his solo CD ‘It’s All About Love’ in 2004. It’s a collection of songs recorded in between his touring and live performances. It has a message of love.

About Akon: Akon is the son of jazz percussionist Mor Thiam. He grew up in Senegal and moved to New Jersey in his teens where he discovered hip hop music. He recorded his first song ‘Operations of Nature’ when he was 15. He wrote the lyrics. Tony Love wrote the music. That’s when he and Love met for the first time.
