What:  The Goodguys 14th Lone Star Nationals, part of the 2006 Goodguys Event Series will feature over 2,000 1972 & earlier hot rods, customs, classics, street rods, muscle cars, street machines & trick trucks.  In addition to the giant car show, the event will showcase manufacturer exhibits and commercial displays both inside the garage buildings and outside, a used auto parts swap meet and cars for sale area, nostalgia entertainment, NASCAR-style rides by Team Texas on Friday and Saturday, model & pedal car expo, featured vehicle display areas on Saturday, Boyd Coddington’s Pro’s Picks, track cruise on Saturday night for event participants, kids area and lots of fun for the entire family.

When:  Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 29, 30 & October 1. Event hours are: Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Tickets:  General admission:  $15, Seniors (60+) $12, Kids (7-12) $6 and 6 and under are free.  Free spectator parking is available.

Event Highlights:

Outdoor Show n’ Shine:  The Goodguys 14th Lone Star Nationals is the premier gathering in the Lone Star state for hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, trick trucks and street machines. With an outdoor show n’ shine of over 2,000 vehicles through 1972 vintage, the Texas Motor Speedway will be landscaped with acres of gleaming, candy-colored cars.  Lil’ deuce coupes, hot rod roadsters, lead-sled Merc customs, ‘55-’57 Chevy’s & fat-fendered Fords, and tricked-out trucks will compose a lot of the show n’ shine, while classics and other timeless beauties will round out the scene. Special Featured Display Areas:  On Saturday from 8 am to 2 pm, the following special areas will be featured at the event:  Homebuilt Heaven sponsored by Timberland PRO, for those vehicle owners who built their own car, The Youngguys area—for registered participants who are 25 and younger, Low, Smooth & Cool, Mighty Muscle (’55-’72) and the Trick Truck corral.

Commercial & Vendor Exhibits/Swap Meet/Car Corral:  Commercial & vendor exhibits will fill the garage buildings and the outside areas around it selling the latest in rod & custom parts and accessories, while the swap meet and cars for sale corral offer unlimited bargain hunting and shopping for used, rare car parts awaits.   For info on the swap meet, contact Jeff Johnson at 614/268-1181 and for commercial space info, contact Susan and Ed at 480/460-1932.

NASCAR-style rides around TMS with Team Texas:  Event attendees will be able to take a NASCAR-style ride around the high-banked oval with the skilled drivers from Team Texas.  The cost of a 4-lap ride is $100 plus tax.  Rides will on Friday, September 29 from 2 pm to 5 pm and Saturday, September 30 from 10 am to noon and 2 pm to 4 pm.  For info or to schedule a ride, call Team Texas at 940/648-1043.

Model & Pedal Car Show:  Don’t miss the chance to see these miniatures on display. On Saturday at 1 pm the Revell Make N’ Take area will be set up for kids to make a model and take it home with them. Those interested in entering a model into the show, should bring the model with them to the event. They will be issued a ticket to return to the event on Sunday.

Awards Ceremony:  At 2:22 pm on Sunday, over 80 lucky recipients will be presented with awards at the Goodguys 14th Lone Star Nationals awards ceremony. It’s a great way to see the best of the best!  In addition one lucky registered participant will be drawn as a finalist to win a 2006 Dodge Charger, a Speedway Motors ‘32, and the Foose designed Unique Performance ’70 Challenger.
