Discovering The God Imagination by Jonathan Brink breaks through the paradoxes of Christianity with a more harmonious foundation

FOLSOM, Calif. (MMD Newswire) August 9, 2010 -- Discovering The God Imagination: Reconstructing A Whole New Christianity by Jonathan Brink seeks to provide a new way to interpret and understand the works of the Christian gospel. "As a church planter and follower of Jesus, I wrestled with the historical understanding of the Gospel," says Brink. "I reached a point where I could no longer actively tell an old story, so I searched for a new one within the Scriptures."

What Brink found, he explains, is a simpler and more holistic approach to understanding the Gospel - free of inconsistencies and based on the real reasons for human suffering, justice and reconciliation. "It also suggests life is really about wrestling with and answering a single root question that drives everything in the human experience," says Brink. "More importantly, our human perspective is actually bent towards getting the question wrong and the consequences are devastating. This problem keeps us from seeing our dignity, identity and purpose."

Discovering The God Imagination, according to Brink, becomes available during a critical time, when the centuries-old theories of Christianity no longer serve as the solution to the problems God intended to solve. "We live in a period of time when people are actively questioning the foundational assumptions of Christianity and searching for a more harmonious faith," says Brink. "I believe the old historical assumptions don't work anymore. They are actually the natural result of the root problem God is attempting to solve in the story."
