Juilliard School trained German group Trio Contrasts to Perform at DANK-Haus

Chicago, IL (MMD Newswire) December 4, 2009- The DANK-Haus in historic Lincoln Square will host Trio Contrasts, premiere German musicians, on Sunday December 20, 2009 at 3:00 pm. The afternoon's program includes works from Ives, Mendelssohn, Schumanm, Bartok and Brahms.

Trio Contrasts (Doren Dinglinger, violin; Maja Pawelke, clarinet; Liza Stepanova, piano) was formed by graduate students at The Juilliard School in New York in September 2007. Prior to this, all three musicians received their undergraduate degrees in Germany, have won numerous awards and scholarships and gained broad international concert experience both as soloists and in ensembles. The young trio was mentored by internationally acclaimed clarinetist Charles Neidich and pianist Vivian Weilerstein and made its debut at the New York Society for Ethical Culture in December of the same year. Trio Contrasts is steadily building its repertoire and reputation and was awarded the GSCF performance fellowship at Juilliard for 2008-09. In February 2009, the ensemble was invited to give their Washington, DC debut in the Carl Schurz Auditorium of the German Embassy. The official Embassy website praised the concert afterwards as a "brilliant performance."
