July 28, 2008 |
DALLAS, TX -- Jul 28, 2008 --- The Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. today announced its partnership with the State of Georgia and the Aidmatrix Network® for Disaster Relief. The Aidmatrix Network® is a national disaster relief coordination system funded by FEMA, the UPS Foundation, Accenture, and the Aidmatrix Foundation, Inc. to better manage unsolicited donations and unaffiliated volunteers. It connects State and local governments with donors, State Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (VOADs), National VOAD, and FEMA through web-based tools that reduce paperwork and allow for easy information sharing. Georgia joined its coastal neighbors in the FEMA Region IV Multi-State Disaster Exercise July 10, 2008 which utilized the Aidmatrix Network to simulate donations management response for the region.
Georgia’s portal on the Aidmatrix Network® will help with unsolicited In-Kind Donations Management, Warehouse Management, Volunteer Management and Financial Referrals Management during times of disaster. To prepare for this, Georgia joined member States Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina to simulate a multi-State disaster. This event was the first of its kind and was led by Larry Buckner, Volunteer & Donations Specialist of FEMA Region IV. The event was conducted entirely online, showcasing the real-case usage of how the region could coordinate relief efforts instantly online. They used the Aidmatrix Network to manage the complete end-to-end process for donation offers to the State VOADs. They also used the system to simulate sharing offers across State borders so that the usage of the donations is maximized.
“The multi-state exercise in FEMA Region IV was a good example of how states can work together to share information, needs and offers in a major disaster. The exercise pointed out the areas which states needed to work on to become more proficient. It is my hope that other regions will facilitate this kind of exercise for their states.” Larry Buckner, Volunteer & Donations Specialist, FEMA Region IV.
This web-based system will help the State of Georgia manage the public response of spontaneous giving that comes during a disaster. The information will be collected electronically which, in turn, allows the State to easily communicate with its VOAD members. The end result is that more quality donations can be processed and delivered to disaster victims more efficiently.
The Aidmatrix Network® now covers more than 55% of the US population. Its members are helping revolutionize the way in which humanitarian relief is processed. It is streamlining relief efforts with technology and relationships just like the supply chains used within the for-profit world. The solution suite includes management modules for: In-Kind Donations, Volunteers, Warehouse, and Financial Referrals.
