GEORGE HRAB AND THE GEOLOGIC ORCHESTRA
5th ANNUAL ICEHOUSE SHOW & 10th ANNIVERSARY CD RE-RELEASE

On Saturday, November 11th 2006 8:00pm.
George Hrab and the Geologic Orchestra will perform their fifth annual concert at the IceHouse, located on Bethlehem’s Sand Island on Saturday, November 11th at 8:00 pm. The concert will celebrate the 10 year anniversary and re-release of George Hrab’s 1st CD entitled [sic].  This will be the first time that Hrab’s debut CD will be legally available since a 1999 court decision prevented the sale and further distribution of the album. Hrab was sued and issued a $50,000 judgment for “invasion of privacy” due to the questionable content of one of the tracks.

“We’ve removed the allegedly offensive track from the record and are very excited to re-release it” says Hrab, Bethlehem resident and leader of the ensemble. “A number of my fans are aware that this album exists, and have been asking for it for years. I’m just glad that they’ll finally get a chance to hear a younger, greener version of me performing on the record… legally hear it, that is.”

Hrab has received international exposure and is one of many musicians taking advantage of the burgeoning medium of podcasting. His music has been downloaded and played around the world, and he is currently among the top artists on the podsafe music network. “I’ve gotten some incredible exposure by not only having my music played internationally, but by being interviewed at length on number of podcasts. The great supportive comments and positive reviews from across the country and from as far as Finland, Germany, Italy and even Japan and Australia have been very encouraging. I’ve made a slew of new friends.” The podcasts playing Hrab’s music often tend to focus on his love of science and reason, and his humanist/skeptic repertoire, but sometimes the podcasters just love his music. “It’s an incredibly democratic and personal medium. I’m always amazed by its potential for exposure.”

The Geologic Orchestra will, as always, feature the Authority Horns from the nationally acclaimed band The Philadelphia Funk Authority. The 10-member group features George Hrab on vocals and guitar, Tom Sweeney and Ross Brown on guitar, Eric Kenlin on drums, Vinnie Puccio on bass, Andy Kowal and Dave Painchaud on trumpet, Dale Gerheart on trombone, Steve Bridges on saxophone, and Larry Ogden on baritone sax. Along with superlative musicianship, the group’s performances are known to showcase Hrab’s quick wit, incendiary social commentary, and have amazing entertainment appeal. “We’re all about making the show a show” says Hrab. The Orchestra will perform a number of songs from [sic] as well as pieces from Hrab’s four other CDs: Minutiae, Vitriol, Coelacanth, and Interrobang.

Admission is $10 and reservations can be made by calling 610-866-5190.
