FUNKY UNIQUE CLOTHING MAKES A SPLASH WITH PIRATE-THEMED CLOTHING AND ACCESSORIES LINE

Orange County, CA -- October 23, 2006 -- There’s a new kind of booty showing up in fashion trends: think “Pirates.”  Funky Unique Clothing founders and designers Trudy Arrias and Debbie De Phillippi are now showing their original line of pirate-themed clothing and accessories at LA Fashion Mart, one of the hottest and most exciting venues for emerging and established designers.

Funky Unique’s designs are inspired by a 17th century pirate cross that Arrias discovered several years ago while vacationing in the Caribbean.  She was immediately intrigued by the unique piece, and Arrias soon found that the cross attracted a great deal of interest.  “People who saw me wearing the cross were constantly asking me about it,” she stated.  The one-time model and child actress teamed up with friend and fashion designer Debbie De Phillippi, and the two began to create a line of jewelry and clothing with designs based upon the cross’s distinctive style.  They have also replicated the original cross in a variety of necklaces, with pendants and chains available in sterling silver, gold or platinum.

The pieces are unique and original, and appeal to a wide audience.  With their unisex designs, Arrias and De Phillippi have created something for everyone, from teenagers to the senior set.  In fact, Arrias noted that both her 70 year-old mother and her 19 year-old daughter are fans of the line.

Thanks to the phenomenal success of movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean,” the designs have become more popular than ever.  Arrias and De Phillippi have promoted their pieces at high-profile events including the TV Land Awards and the Kids Choice Awards, and celebrities Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom have been spotted wearing one of the line’s signature replica cross necklaces.

Funky Unique Clothing will be featured at the upcoming MAGIC Marketplace in Las Vegas, where thousands of fashion industry executives and buyers will converge to scoop up the hottest new trends.  Arrias and De Phillippi said that they anticipate a positive reception to their line, and as such, are in the process of expanding their pieces to include belt buckles and bronze jewelry.

Founded in 2004, Funky Unique Clothing specializes in bringing the romance and mystery of the 17th century into today’s fun fashions.  For further information, contact Funky Unique Clothing at 949-291-3126 or visit their website at: www.Funkyuniqueclothing.com
