September 12, 2013 (MMD Newswire) -- The countdown has begun...They are coming from France...from Portugal...from Italy...to go head-to-head against one another in the only international competition of its kind in the USA.

They are the best of the best fireworks' teams in their own countries, teams who will be competing against one another for international bragging rights in Fire Up The Night, the second annual international fireworks' challenge that will rock the night sky over Cincinnati's historic Coney Island Amusement Park Saturday, September 21.

Last year's inaugural Fire Up The Night challenge was an incredible success and was the first-ever and only international fireworks' competition held in the United States. Competitors in this year's head-to-head European Challenge are the top fireworks' companies from France (Brezac Artifices) Portugal (Grupo Luso Pirotecnia) and Italy (Panzera). And, following the international competition, event producer Rozzi Famous Fireworks from Cincinnati will fire up the night in a thundering finale that will shake the banks of the Ohio River.

A panel of judges and audience will vote on which team performs the best, evaluating such things as presentation, structure and scale, colors, originality and music synchronization. Last year's inaugural event featured competitors from Canada, Mexico and the USA, with Team Canada taking home the gold.

Numerous fun activities will also be part of Fire Up The Night II, including Coney Island's classic rides, live stage entertainment and the world's largest waterlesspool party, in which visitors can share the excitement of the event with family and friends inside Coney Island's gigantic Sunlite Pool, which will be drained of all water for the special event. Sunlite Pool is the largest recirculating pool in North America at 401-feet long by 200-feet wide, covering over two acres.

One of America's truly amazing heritage amusement parks, Cincinnati's Coney Island, nestled along the banks of the Ohio River, has been entertaining families for the past 127 years with 75 beautifully landscaped acres, a 12-acre lake, 24 classic family rides, an18-hole miniature golf course, trampoline bungee jumping, games, a pint-size mining town, classic Moonlite Gardens and live stage shows.

Coney Island is located at 6201 Kellogg Ave., exit 72 off I-275, 10 miles east of downtown Cincinnati. More information: (513) 232-8230. www.coneyislandpark.com.
