“Fired ad agent inspires roller derby’s “child safe” Internet Videos”
Dateline: San Francisco, CA. Feb. 09, 2007. The American Roller Derby League® brand owner Tim Patten conceived 2007s “child safe” ladies roller derby on demand Internet videos at:
www.BayCityBombers.com after confrontations with his advertising executive.
“I terminated my agent after he wanted a women skater to brandish a pistol and wound another player in a video taped roller derby bout,” Patten admitted and went on to explain how this event started a new wave of thinking about what roller derby TV should be.
“The agent promised an ad contract with a large company. I saw how easy it could be to push bad images onto our children in order to get ratings,” Patten said.
Since then Patten’s vision cleared. “We’re dedicated to help make the Internet safe for our children. I realized that kids need positive role models now more than ever," he stated.
Fifty two weeks of fresh roller derby sports programs are scheduled; featuring women’s roller derby at
www.BayCityBombers.com . The first show starts February 9th 2007, and stars the roller derby legend, Ann Calvello in a 15 minute documentary empowering today’s roller sports athletes.
“Like Ann Calvello, our women skaters are athletes. We’re not interested in being exploited in ways other than through exceptional roller derby skating and sports/entertainment skill,” Patten added.
