Fire and Crime Scene Advanced Continuing Education to be held at NSMU
September 20, 2007
Las Cruces, NM  -- September 20, 2007 --  The Forensic Testing Laboratories (FTL) at NMSU announces its Fire and Crime Scene Advanced Continuing Education (FACS-ACE) conference to be held at New Mexico State University on Friday, September 21, 2007.  This conference is free of charge to local Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters.

FTL created FACS-ACE partially as a result of the Katie Sepich murder investigation. The cooperation between FTL and law enforcement in that case resulted in a life sentence for Katie’s killer. The conference offers world-class instruction and hands-on training for law enforcement, firefighters and other first responders in the areas of crime and fire scene preservation and evidence handling and collection. Nationally known scientists and investigators will lead the conference. Attendees will also receive courtroom training from attorneys.

FACS-ACE is a vital resource for all first responders, and provides them with the skills and training they need to perform in today’s “CSI” environment. “FTL is proud to provide this conference to the law enforcement community free of charge,” said Stefan Long, Director of FTL. FTL is located in the Arrowhead Research Park at New Mexico State University, and is a leader in DNA testing, analysis, and research.

The FTL is the founder and principal sponsor of the Fire and Crime Scene Advanced Continuing Education (FACS-ACE) conference and will be held several times per year in Las Cruces, New Mexico. FACS-ACE offers world-class instruction and hands-on training for Law Enforcement, Firefighters and other first responders in the areas of crime and fire scene preservation and evidence handling and collection. This international conference includes training staff members at the top of their respective fields, including:

* Dr. Arthur Eisenberg, former chairman of the FBI DNA Advisory Board
