ARTIST: Painter of People - Cathi Locati (sister of Jerry Locati, Montana Architect who designed world's most expensive home - Yellowstone Club)
Fifteen controversial, part abstract, part realism paintings with one continous theme:
"I do not see race nor gender, I see a human being; we need each other to survive; Regardless" (Cathi Locati)
When viewed in it's entirity one narrative emerges from all the paintings fitting together like a puzzle while two or more stories are simultaneaoulsy occuring within each painting as separate pieces apart from the whole. A powerful positive statement about black women and black men as well as Asian and caucasian assisting the viewer in seeing people, not race.
Cathi is an international figurative and portrait realism painter with a BA in Communications, 30 years experience in corporate sales and marketing and Miss Montana USA 1981. Cathi has two paintings slated for future Smithsonian Placement as the official artist of Julie Clark (one of America's first female pilots). She sells her artwork upwards of $50,000 and is currently recording a 'made for TV' Documentary titled: Cathi Locati - Painter of People. Locati is represented by Mark Alan Fine Art at the NY Art Expo March 1- 5 where her " Early Works" originals and signed, numbered, limited edition giclee on canvas collection will be available. Her third show Opening is June 1 - 25 in Chelsea at Amsterdam Whitney Gallery. Show title: "Women of the New Millennium" depicting powerfuly poignant statements about the endurance of women in unusual job occupations such as a female construction worker in Nyack,a female captain of a seattle men's hockey team, a female painter - Cathi's self portrait; a female Captain of Utah Fire Department who was also torch bearer for the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics; 14 year old female race car driver.
Cathi currently lives in Sandy, Utah and is moving to New York in July this year.
