New York, NY - Sept.18, 2007 - R&B Independent recording artist Eric Roberson has garnered five nominations in the 1st Annual Agape’ Indie Artist Awards. Roberson received nominations for Album of the Year, ‘Left’; R&B/Soul Artist of the Year, Male; Live Performer of the Year; Song of the Year, ‘Too Soon’ and Record of the Year, ‘Been in Love’. Roberson was also nominated earlier this year for a BET Award in the BET J ‘Cool Like That’ category. The award went posthumously to Gerald Levert.
In the Album of the Year category, Roberson is up against Choklate, Tim Dillinger, Donnie and Vikter Duplaix.
Other nominees leading the pack with three nominations each are Brown Baby Girl, Courtney Bryan, Choklate, Tim
Dillinger, Donnie, Darnell Levine, Frank McComb, Omar, Rahsaan Patterson and Rahbi.
Founder of the awards, Silawn Lewis states, “These are exceptional artists who-although highly regarded in the Independent music community – are mostly unknown to the general public. These awards are a way of acknowledging their talents as well as exposing them to a broader audience.”
A nominating committee consisting of Independent music authorities from across the United States and as far away as Denmark was responsible for choosing the nominees.
This years awards presentation will be held on October 31st at the renowned S.O.B.s In New York City. The list of artists performing and ticket info will be announced at a later date.
