The constant chaos and turmoil in this world is causing the rock we call home to start to decay. The failure to understand and manage our mind and mental existence is causing our planet to get to the brink of inhabitability. Humans try to create the ideal conditions in the world around them to solve problems and difficulties. When in reality we must establish first the necessary conditions in our own internal world, in the mind and mental existence.

Only through establishing the necessary conditions in the mind and mental existence can we hope to address the problems and difficulties we face, relate and interact with each other and the world around us in less destructive and harmful, more constructive and beneficial ways. This can only be accomplished through understanding and managing the mind, mental existence and mental development.

The Report, going beyond the conventional focus on the natural environment and environmental problems, short and medium-term measures addressing environmental symptoms and consequences through technological means, identifies the causes in how we understand and manage ourselves. Specifically, failing to understand and manage the mind and mental existence, where we consciously exist and act. Meeting non-material mental needs in material ways and trying to create in the world around us what by nature we must establish in the mind and mental existence. In the process we exploit natural resources, interfere in and degrading the natural environment beyond what is required for human existence. The Report identifies the consequences for the individual, society and the environment, and discusses the direction of the answers and solutions, the steps we need to take individually and as a species in conceptual and mental development and growth.
