EMO THEMED INDEPENDENT FEATURE FILM TO PREMIERE IN MISSISSIPPI, THE BIRTHPLACE OF AMERICAN MUSIC
March 26, 2008
Cloud Chamber Productions LLC will premiere its independent comedy “Teary Sockets” at Mississippi’s 9th Annual Crossroads Film Festival on April 4th, 2008.  Teary Sockets, directed by Jackson Anderson, is a mockumentary based on the exploits of a Los Angeles based Emo band.  The 9:00pm screening of Teary Sockets will be held at the Regal Parkway Place Theatre in Flowood, Mississippi as a featured film in the 2008 Crossroads Film Festival.

“Emo, or emotive punk, is an emerging musical genre”, explains Jackson Anderson, the film’s director.  “Emo started on the east coast, although interest in Emo music and its subculture is spreading throughout the United States and Europe.”  Scott Anderson, the film’s producer, adds, “What better place than Mississippi to introduce a mainstream film about an emerging American musical movement?  Mississippi has spawned most of America’s original musical cultures, be they the blues, country, gospel or rock and roll.”

“There are a number of seminal films that introduced specific musical genres and their associated lifestyles into American culture, most notably Saturday Night Fever and Urban Cowboy”, commented Corky Kessler, the film’s executive producer.  “Teary Sockets is a bit different. On its surface it is a comedy, but its theme surveys the impact that a music subculture can have on mainstream society.”

Teary Sockets tells the story of Bobby Tear, the leader of the Los Angeles based Emo band “The Teary Sockets”, through the lens of a beleaguered documentary filmmaker, Jackson.  Jackson is attempting to piece together a documentary of the band’s rise to stardom and their dedication to an animal rights charity that Bobby Tear founded to stamp out “bovine abuse”.  Low on money and in debt to Jackson, Bobby is forced to travel to Mississippi to seek funding from his estranged father.  While the clash of cultures is inevitable, his brief return to his hometown culminates in an event of national significance.
