Contact: Steve Soled or Armando Diana Great Images Advertising, 973-686-1200 Wayne, NJ -- Improving caregivers quality of life and easing their worries about a loved one’s well-being is what a unique electronic caregiver’s assistant provides on a daily basis. The Wellness WizardTM not only reminds users to take their medications, but also alerts their caregiver(s) if dosages may have been missed.
“Dad lives in another state and it’s increasingly difficult to keep checking on him while I’m at work,” said Bob Tatanish, a caregiver in West Virginia. “The Wellness Wizard is the perfect solution because I can go about my business and know Dad is OK.”
Currently, it is estimated there are between 26 and 54 million caregivers in the United States. One of the biggest concerns they face is their loved one forgetting to take their medications. According to an MSNBC survey of over 2,500 respondents, 31% said they do not take their medications, and 61% indicated the reason was due to forgetting to take the medicine.
Medication compliance was called “America’s real drug problem” by the Wall Street Journal and a USA Today study determined in the U.S. and other developed countries “only half of people with chronic health conditions take medications as directed.”
The Wellness Wizard was specially developed to help users maintain their independence while offering caregivers the freedom to manage their own lives while having the peace-of-mind of knowing their loved ones are safe and well.
“I am constantly worried about my mother but have four children and need to work and can’t always check on her,” said Mary Scafuto, a caregiver in New Jersey. “With the Wellness Wizard my worries go away and I have the serenity of knowing she is alright and safe.”
Caregivers record reminder messages on the Wellness Wizard to be played at specified times and days for the user. The messages are recorded in the caregiver’s voice. The caregiver can set the messages to play daily, every other day, weekly, monthly or even on a specified day in the future. At the designated time, the Wellness Wizard plays the reminder message and if the user does not acknowledge they have heard the reminder message, the message repeats for 20 minutes. If the message is still not acknowledged, the Wellness Wizard automatically calls up to six designated phone numbers with an automated alert message telling the caregiver(s) to check on the user’s wellness. The Wellness Wizard is easily programmed from the user’s telephone or any remote telephone such as the caregiver’s cell phone.
The Wellness Wizard’s ability to effectively remind users to take their medications, and alert caregivers if reminders are not acknowledged, gives caregivers the confidence they need that their loved ones are safe and well. This gives caregivers’ greater flexibility in managing their own busy lives without adding needless worry about their loved ones’ well-being. Caregivers have the flexibility of setting up a plan where the Wellness Wizard plays messages multiple times per day. And unlike medical alert buttons, even if the user cannot press a button someone will be alerted.
The Wellness Wizard also has many other features to ensure the safety of users who live alone like reminding them to perform important safety tasks such as locking their doors at night. The Wellness Wizard also can be programmed to call designated phone numbers with reminder messages at specified times and days. This feature can be used to remind caregivers when they need to reorder a loved one’s medications or of upcoming doctor’s appointments.
With a suggested retail price of $149 and no setup or monthly monitoring fees, the Wellness Wizard can be found at fine pharmacies or ordered directly by visiting www.safetyandwellness.com .
