Eco-Friendly Office Supplier Supports Local Efforts
March 26, 2008

Wayne, NJ, March 26, 2008 -- Alexis Lawlor is making a difference in her community. The 16-year-old Girl Scout is working on her Gold Award project, and has been inspired to initiate two energy conservation programs that the whole community can take part in.

Modeled after California’s Lights Out San Francisco, Lawlor has put together Lights Out Wayne. Participants will turn off all non-essential lights from 8 to 9pm on March 29th in an effort to save energy. This program “aims to educate people on the measures [one] can take to reduce the amount of energy [he or she] uses,” says Lawlor. Just that one hour of reduced energy usage adds up to a significant savings, and makes people think about what usage really is essential. “Some estimates show that this small measure can reduce as much as 15% of the energy normally consumed on an average Saturday evening,” says Lawlor. “Collectively we can make a big difference.”

In addition, Lawlor has organized an Energy Fair. Also scheduled for March 29th, the fair will be held from 11am to 2pm at the Packanack Elementary School. Retailers offering energy-saving and environmentally aware products are invited to come display their wares, and educate people on the simple ways everyone can save energy. “Come for free and set up a booth or table to hand out literature about your services or products, exhibit your items, take orders, or make appointments with residents to show them how they can become more energy efficient and environmentally conscious,” says Lawlor.

GreenOfficeStore.com, http://www.greenofficestore.com an internet-based business that sells environmentally aware office products, intends to do just that. The Ridgewood company will set up a table, and intends to give away eco-friendly pencils http://www.greenofficestore.com/results.asp?Keyword=earthwrite at the event. “We want to attend to encourage Alexis, and to show that we support grassroots projects like this,” says a GreenOfficeStore.com http://www.greenofficestore.com spokesman.

The Packanack Elementary School is located at 180 Oakwood Dr. in Wayne. For more information contact Alexis Lawlor at 973-628-6903.
