DYNAMIC PAINTING It sounds like science fiction but it’s real!

Canadian company San Base Studio Inc. introduces a new kind of design products as well as a new kind of Art – Dynamic Painting. Using the latest in computer technology, a still picture is transformed into a never-ending show that adds a whole new dimension to traditional art and design.

The Dynamic Painting can be considered a generative art - an art that has been generated algorithmically by a computer system. The artist creates the basic idea of the picture (plot, aesthetics), basic colors, basic principles of their development. Then a computer works on the picture's individuality, adding more variations and fluctuations to the basic elements and letting them develop with time.  Images replace each other hour-by-hour, day-by-day, and month-by-month. The painting is always in the state of perpetual transformation. It never repeats itself.  Every time a new image is created, there is an opportunity for a peaceful receptivity, and then the work disappears forever. The picture is living its own life with objects moving and transforming but still following the original artist's concept. The dynamic painting acts upon the viewer by means of inducing associations, i.e. the viewer interprets the picture's subject on his own.

The novel Dynamic Painting technology can find a place in many decorative applications. Dynamic Paintings or their derivatives can become unique decorative elements for a home, office, or any public place. These pieces of art will nicely harmonize with just about any surroundings and will add elegance and sophistication to any environment. This kind of decorative element perfectly suites places where people is forced to spend quite some time, such as doctor's reception rooms, hotels' lobbies, airports and so on. Such a picture can be a bright element of art design attracting extra attention.

A typical Dynamic Painting installation includes a special high-end computer system connected to a large high definition LCD/Plasma monitor. The system and display can be tailored to a particular specification, to fit any environment. With the advent of large and inexpensive flat screens, this new movement in art will become extremely popular. The benefits of this genre are obvious:  an endless supply of unprecedented and unpredictable paintings in the place of one static image.  The technique guarantees always a new juxtaposition of colors and shapes.
