Los Angeles, CA -- November 7, 2007 -- NAPA Institute is delivering to the United States a proven and effective system of abilitation for patients with Traumatic Brain Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Stroke and a host of other Neuromuscular Disorders.
There is no question that therapies are needed for Neuromuscular Disorders. In 2006, the Center for Disease Control said that on average 1.4 million people will suffer a Traumatic Brain Injury each year. United Cerebral Palsy estimates that 764,000 children and adults exhibit one or more symptoms of Cerebral Palsy.
NAPA – short for Neurological and Physical Abilitation – uses the NeuroSuit, a suit therapy tool adapted from Russian Military and Space Technology to physically treat and specifically target several types of Neuromuscular Disorders. Suit therapy has had international success treating over 40,000 patients in 300 clinics world-wide.
The NeuroSuit is one tool, most effective when coupled with the Intensive Model of Therapy, known as IMOT. “We use the IMOT method because it relies so heavily on our core belief – therapy is most effective with increased frequency, intensity and duration.” says Andrew Gold, CEO of NAPA Institute.
By combining the NeuroSuit with the IMOT approach, the NAPA Institute can do what traditional therapy cannot – address the muscle weakness and deconditioning brought on by limited physical activity and limited range of motion. NAPA therapists create an individualized treatment plan using IMOT and the NeuroSuit, propelling patients to their next level of development.
Patients are working hard and our therapists are excellent – the results with IMOT and the NeuroSuit have been tremendous,” says Gold. “The advantages of physical fitness are well documented for the general population. We found a way to bring those benefits to patients affected with Neuromuscular Disorders.”
During a 3 week session at NAPA, patients spend 6 hours a day, 5 days a week on a fully customized physical therapy program. If that sounds like a lot, that’s because it is. Gold says, “Pick any goal – golfing, running, getting straight A’s – a person has to put their time in to reach his or her full potential. That’s our philosophy at NAPA. We see people take their first steps, gain independence and make their dreams come true. We don’t give up.”
