Receiving nominations for Best Therapist and Best Presenter, Dr. Beurkens was among dozens of respected individuals nominated for these awards. She was voted Best Therapist by parents and professionals in the Autism community. A limited licensed psychologist with a doctorate in clinical psychology and a master's degree in special education, Dr. Beurkens has been working to transform the lives of individuals and families affected by Autism and related disorders for the past 15 years. She is the founder and director of the Horizons Developmental Remediation Center, a multidisciplinary clinic providing premier evaluation and treatment services to families around the globe.

The Horizons Developmental Remediation Center was established in 2003 by Dr. Beurkens who, along with her talented colleagues, has provided revolutionary treatment and training programs to thousands of families and professionals world-wide. The clinic works with individuals of all ages who have a wide variety of neurodevelopmental disorders, including Autism, Asperger's, Pervasive Developmental Disorder, ADHD, and other challenges. Along with treatment and training, Dr. Beurkens and her colleagues have produced Autism products as well as books on Autism which are excellent resources for both families and professionals.
