February 23, 2010 (MMD Newswire) -- Commissioned by MEAG, Lesjöfors has designed a spring system for collapsible road signs, used at road works. Collapsible signs improve traffic safety and working environment for road workers.

MEAG, one of Europe´s leading road sign manufacturers, needed to improve the temporary signposts at e.g. road works. Lesjöfors was engaged to develop a spring system who could meet MEAG´s demands.

- The mechanism we developed for MEAG is designed to collapse at a collision and can easily be straightened without damage. An additional advantage is the new light-weight steel foundations who replaced the heavy rubber foundations used earlier. This makes handling much easier and prevents injuries caused by heavy lifting, says Göran Andersen, Senior Advisor at Lesjöfors Stockholm Fjäder.

In 2010, the new road sign systems will be introduced to the market. The collapsible signposts need only 20 per cent of the space needed earlier on transportation vehicles and in storage sites. The improved display system contributes to a better traffic safety and better working environment for the road workers.
