7TH Annual Military Energy Alternatives Conference

Golden, CO (MMD Newswire) February 3, 2012 -- Clean Energy Alliance, Inc. (CEA), the national association of clean energy business incubators, announced that it is a Supporting Association for the 7th Annual Military Energy Alternatives Conference. This event, happening at the Westin Tysons Corner in Falls Church, VA, from March 6-8, 2012, is where Department of Defense and Department of Energy personnel will discuss strategies to make alternative energy options less expensive, build a plausible business case for alternatives, and create a successful working environment with stakeholders in an effort to meet their energy efficiency and security targets.

CEA, founded a decade ago by the U.S. Department of Energy's National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), focuses on developing practices and resources to support clean energy technology commercialization. Incubator members of CEA provide a complete range of business and technology incubation services to assist emerging clean energy technology companies in the commercialization process. Many of the client companies of CEA's members are advancing technologies that have significant potential to address military energy requirements.

"Energy is an increasingly critical element to our national security. As technology has advanced, the energy intensiveness of the military has increased to the extent that combat is now about 16 times more energy-intensive than it was in World War II. This is exacerbated by inefficiencies and grid dependence. I'm excited to see CEA support the 7th Annual Military Energy Alternatives Conference, which highlights the critical need for developments such as those being pursued by the clients of CEA's member," said James F. Groelinger, CEA's Executive Director. He continued: "The conference participation by NREL, a founder of CEA, is particularly gratifying and shows how prescient NREL's vision was, as CEA clients make strides in such relevant areas as battery technologies and biofuels, both critical to the military."
