Golden, CO (MMD Newswire) February 7, 2012 -- Clean Energy Alliance, Inc. (CEA), the national association of clean energy business incubators, is pleased to congratulate Roy Keller, Director of the Louisiana Technology Transfer Office at Louisiana State University, on receiving the Champion of Small Business Award from the Small Business Technology Council. The award honors those whose contributions were well above the normal efforts and resulted in the passage of a long term Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) reauthorization bill signed into law late last year by President Obama.
The Louisiana Technology Transfer Office is affiliated with the Louisiana Business and Technology Center, a CEA member incubator. CEA recognizes the critical position that the SBIR program holds in clean energy technology development and commercialization and respects the important work done by the Small Business Technology Council and those that support its efforts. In November, 2011, Roy Keller helped organize the 2011 National SBIR/STTR Fall Conference at which U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA), was the keynote speaker. Prior to the event, Senator Landrieu said: "Through the Small Business Innovation Research program, businesses have improved the technology of our armed forces and brought more jobs to my home state of Louisiana," calling it an "...invaluable program."
Commenting on the honor, Roy said: "I would like to thank the board of the Small Business Technology Council for recognizing my effort towards the SBIR reauthorization. It was crucial to Louisiana that the SBIR program be authorized since it represents one of the largest sources of seed capital for our technology-based small businesses."
James F. Groelinger, CEA's Executive Director, noted: "Congratulations certainly are in order to our friend Roy Keller on this well-deserved recognition from the Small Business Technology Council. Roy has indeed been a stalwart champion of small business. Congratulations are also due to CEA member LBTC for its contribution to technology development and commercialization in renewable and clean energy and energy efficiency."
