Those who were the FACTORY, people who were influenced by the FACTORY and people who wanted to be the FACTORY, all showed up one day in New York City, a day to remember a friend, an artist, and an inspiration. Andy Warhol, today is February 22, 2007.
AS SEEN BY CHRISTOPHER M. LYNCH
Chris Lynch has embodied the vision of the Factory in this, his latest series. During the recent 20th anniversary of Andy Warhol’s passing, Chris captured nearly 200 captivating images of those who were there or wished they had been at the Factory. When asked to concept a portrait series of Andy’s factory, a fellow artist he met, Billy Name, the one who was responsible for covering the factory in aluminum foil, the Silver Factory days, inspired Christopher Lynch. “I wanted to do something that had the quality of “silver” but knew the aluminum foil had already been done, so I turned to MYLAR”. My favorite part of the creation of this series was that it was all just a concept sketch, until we built the mylar booth. “My pencil sketch came to life right before my eyes. ” The background, which usually was solid in Lynch’s previous portrait series, now turned to “liquid”. Some have related this look to liquid mercury. Each portrait is different as the background reacts to each subject. Christopher M. Lynch - Why?.... “Because drawing took to long” when asked why he got into photography. Christopher M. Lynch grew up in Ellsworth Maine, a town of 4,000, where the art program had been cut from the school budget. Artist in the community rallied to provide art programs for the children, so that they had the opportunity to create. Lynch found early that he loved creating, and to this day strives to create images that remain in the mind of the viewer long after they are seen.
