Charleston, SC - What do you get when philanthropy meets social networking and invites all girls to a party? Chicks with Checks, the 21st century version of community involvement, according to Anne Newell of Charleston, SC. Newell has long believed that women's networks are at the root of much community empowerment and advancement, even while the "good ol' boys" still take much of the credit.
 
Newell believed there should be a systematic, repeatable way to allow women of all ages and interests to support those who are already supporting their communities, meet like-minded women, and have a great time while making a difference.  Founded in 2006, Chicks with Checks chapters host monthly Parties with a Purpose that each feature and benefit a local non-profit.  During a relaxed social time, the Chicks mingle with staff and volunteers from the charity to learn what they do and what resources and support they need.  The charity also receives a direct donation and is the subject of a mini awareness campaign.  “Our mission is to raise awareness and funds while building relationships with these important organizations and each other,” states Newell.  

 

To support the growing network of local chapters, Chicks with Checks is launching a virtual community to help like-minded women across the country connect with each other and to begin offering additional services such as shopping, travel, book discussions, and coaching. Members and corporate partners will be able to join, network, advertise, communicate, and donate online. In addition, prospective beneficiaries as well as women interested in starting a local chapter can apply.  The affordable Chicks membership includes both club dues and a donation to the charities being featured in your chapter area.
