Chick-Fil-a Reversal Leaves Evangelicals Looking Silly, Christ-based Ministry Applauds Decision

Lewisville, Texas (MMD Newswire) September 21, 2012 -- Reportedly, Chick-Fil-a will cease funding anti-gay organizations, and avoid politics altogether. According to Dr. Steven DavidSon it is an excellent recovery for Chick Fil-a. DavidSon viewed the Chic Fil-a support day sponsored by evangelicals as the opposite of what Jesus would-do in an August 16, 2012 article (Evangelical But Not Evangelistic: A Different Perspective on Chick fil-a Evangelical Demo).

"Chick-Fila may have reversed their course because of their expansion model. However, I applaud them because of the rationale they provided for the decision." DavidSon is referring to the statement by Chick-fil-a spoke person Tracey Micit, "'Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena.'"

DavidSon is a long term opponent of Christian organizations using their resources and influence for political ambitions. "If they did not understand previously, the Chick Fil-a decision is making it more clear. No Christian should allow moral issues to cloud their way when it comes to creating an atmosphere that will allow a believer to share Jesus with those who don't hold the same principles. And the fact that they disclosed their decision to avoid political motives is continuing proof that these moral banners have nothing to do with the Christian faith.

They are a convenient cover for political agendas. They entrap deceived Christians and embolden the "religio-nationalist" zealots who prostitute their religious influence and resources for their political leanings. The Gospel message and Church methodology does not need political assistance. The Church never has and never will need such assistance."

Dr. DavidSon is a leading-edge Christian educator, and author of several Christ-based books. He leads the nation's exclusive Christ-based organization devoted to Christ-based education and counseling.
