Chartwell was formed in 2002 by four lawyers. The firm, now comprised of 66 lawyers, has Pennsylvania offices in Pittsburgh, Harrisburg, Scranton, Valley Forge, and Philadelphia. In the last two years, the firm has opened offices in New York City, New Jersey, Wilmington, Delaware and Orlando, Florida.
"Our clients will benefit from our expanded ability to handle their litigation and insurance coverage work throughout Florida and the Middle Atlantic region. Many of our clients are now trying to reduce the number of firms handling their work and it was therefore important for us to expand our Florida presence," said Chuck Barreras, a founding partner of the firm. The Miami office will initially handle commercial, employment, insurance, property and casualty litigation, with further expansion planned for later in the year.
Heading the new Miami office are Jerome Pivnik and Caroline Nitsche Carlson, who have been practicing general liability defense litigation together in Florida for over 20 years. "Jerry and Caroline are skillful litigators who have already demonstrated to our clients the highest levels of professionalism and service," noted Kenneth Goldberg, Chair of Chartwell's Liability Section in NYC.
The new Miami office is located at 9100 S. Dadeland Boulevard.
"We expect to announce further geographic and practice area expansions in the very near future," noted Cliff Goldstein, the firm's CEO.
