CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (MMD Newswire) July 28, 2009 -- The Machiavellian Minister, a novel by Charlie Frémaux, is a story about recalling childhood trauma and accidentally discovering the abuser whose cruel acts have transformed a young woman's life.
When Lynn joins her friend Rose to attend a high school reunion, she sees a face that reminds her of painful memories from childhood years. When the immediate shock has subsided, Lynn takes the opportunity to share her story of pain and abuse, secrets she has kept to herself for years. But the past is soon brought to the present when Lynn's abuser realizes she is nearby. Now she must risk everything to escape the source of her pain before he can torment her all over again.
"The book deals with poly-victimization and the flood of unpleasant memories triggered by a high school reunion," Frémaux says. "In her novel To the Lighthouse, Virginia Woolf's character, Mrs. Ramsey, says that ‘children never forget' - and they do not."
Inspired by the author's own dark memories of adolescence, the book references celebrated writer Virginia Woolf's struggles with childhood abuse, a subject often alluded to in her works. A coda is included at the end of the book detailing Frémaux's personal story and discusses her influences in creating the book.
The Machiavellian Minister is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels.
