Brave New World Presents The 2nd Annual Black History Project
January 30, 2008

Brave New World is pleased to announce its 2nd Annual Black History Project taking place at the Youngstown Cultural Arts Center in West Seattle Saturday, February 16th.  Doors open at 5:30pm with the event running from 6-8pm.

The Black History Project is designed to pay homage to African American history and pioneers as well as honor current outstanding citizens in the community through music; as well as create an atmosphere of solidarity in the name of Black History Month.
This year Brave New World is pleased to honor the CEO of the Jimi Hendrix Foundation, Jimmy Williams; author Charles R. Cross; founder of the Mimms Academy, Dr. Maxine Mimms; and CEO/publisher of MUSICA, and head of community affairs for Clear Channel Communications (Seattle), Tony Benton.

The event is an all ages two hour show featuring international recording artist, CEO of Brave New World, and spokesperson for the Jimi Hendrix Foundation, Shyan Selah. Opening acts will include rising star Anthony Shears and local legend, Xola Malik formerly known as "Kid Sensation." The celebrity host for the event will be Movin 92.5's nighttime DJ, DJ Kaz.

Admission is free. To reserve seating, order tickets through  www.brownpapertickets.com/event/26321 .

Both Brave New World and the Hendrix foundation's mission has been to create a number of community outreach programs ranging from music and art workshops to other meaningful social programs. And, much like Jimi Hendrix, Shyan is a musician with a genuine interest in giving back and has a knack for using powerful music such as hip-hop and rock in doing so. Music that would otherwise have negative connotations within popular media, has united people throughout the world when it has come from the minds, hearts and mouths of men like Shyan Selah and Jimi Hendrix. In addition, both Brave New World and the Hendrix Foundation is united in the goal of utilizing music as a positive force in getting younger generations involved and educated about issues directly facing them in their neighborhoods, communities, and the world beyond. Topics including music history, health and education will be touched upon at The Black History Project.

The night will be topped off with an adult after party at Ibiza Dinner Club featuring performances by Shyan Selah and DJ Kaz. The two will be celebrating the official launch of Shyan's new mixtape CD, "Godd Game, Volume Two."
