February 05, 2008

NBC'S smash rating hit America's Got Talent is scouring the country again seeking it's next million dollar star.

America's Got Talent is produced by Simon Cowell and the producers of American Idol and the # 1 rated show 2 summers in a row.

Heading up the nationwide search is former journalist turned Hollywood producer Sharon Nash.

Nash Senior Casting Producer of AGT says, "This is the biggest outreach we have done we are holding auditions in 13 cities , NYC, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, LA,-- we have already had record numbers of thousands at our recent auditions in Orlando, Nashville and Charlotte.

Nash spoke to us on her way to the next 5 cities... "I am leaving Sunday to go to some audition cities where we know we will find great talent." Those cities are Houston Feb 11, Las Vegas Feb. 13, Miami Feb 15, New Orleans Feb.18 and Branson Feb 20.  Nash says "We already have some incredible talent coming to those auditions... jugglers, aerialist, dance groups, contortionists, knife throwers, girl groups you name it!   I love casting this show I get to see at the circus, a concert or a Vegas show performance 5 feet in front of me.

Nash started in News in Ardmore Okalahoma as a reporter, she later anchored in other local news markets and in the late 80's made history as the first black woman anchor in the country of Australia. That was one of the most amazing things that happen in my life to be suddenly living in a new country and traveling around the world doing what I love to do. Nash ended up in Hollywood after her stint in Oz and did some entertainment reporting and eventually turned toward producing.

A 25 year veteran in the TV business Nash recently appeared as a contestant on TV Guides reality show America’s Next Producer. When asked what she is looking for in talent Nash replied,” We are looking for a little bit of everything. We are looking for twists on the traditional... say a tap dancer who sings opera.  We are also looking for something we have never seen before... we would love for you to surprise us. America's Got Talent is also looking for some non-traditional acts, some out of the box acts, you could even say quirky, crazy or wacky.

Nash adds "of course we are looking for that combination of great talent and great charisma and stage presence that makes stars."
