October 5, 2012 (MMD Newswire) -- Big Daddy... the band of '59, known for their brilliant mash-ups of contemporary songs rendered into classic styles of the 50's, is back!
After many years away from the music scene, the core members of Big Daddy have reunited to record a new album entitled "SMASHING SONGS OF STAGE AND SCREEN".
Slated for release in June, 2013, this much anticipated album will mash memorable tunes from Broadway Musicals and Feature Films into 1950's arrangements.
Many in the United Kingdom remember Big Daddy for their Top 20 rendition of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing In The Dark" in 1985. Fans from across the globe have uploaded Big Daddy songs on YouTube from their five Rhino albums which have garnered well over half a million views.
The band has posted their own page on Kickstarter to raise $35,000 to fund their comeback album. The program is active now, and will end at 10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time October 14th, 2012.
The band promises to reward those who pledge support in graduated tiers.
On the low end, for a pledge of $5, you will receive an autographed 50's retro postcard. For a $25 pledge you will receive a signed and numbered CD as well as the postcard. As the pledges go up in tiers, so do the rewards, which include rare, out of print recordings, DVDs of Big Daddy Live Performances, and unreleased songs. The $850 level includes a 50's style jacket with the Big Daddy logo, plus all the swag from previous tiers.
One upper level offer to create and record an acoustic "unplugged" parody of your favorite song by re-writing and customizing the lyrics to reflect any topic. 5 CD copies will be provided.
The band is also offering Top Tier Pledges to sit in on a live session for the new album. Those who participate will receive an album credit.
The High End Reward consists of Big Daddy arranging, producing, and recording any song to be sung by the supporter or the band.
