NEW YORK, NY (MMD Newswire) September 9, 2009 -- For the restless unemployed and retired, fame may be the name of the game.

David Seaman, author of "Dirty Little Secrets of Buzz" and viral marketing strategist, suggests that just one hour a day of "social media gaming" could lead to fame within a matter of days or weeks.

"Fame really isn't about talent anymore," Seaman says, "it's about raw ambition, exposure and repetition. Britney Spears is not the most talented singer in the world and Stephenie Meyer is no Shakespeare, yet her Twilight vampire books have sold millions."

Seaman provides three tips for would-be YouTube stars or bestselling authors:

-- Latch onto something that's already hot: Vampires, eco-friendly cars, the sour job market. Find something that's already in the mainstream consciousness and build on it in a fresh and original way.

-- Discover your strengths. You may be better at public presenting than you realize; if not, focus on writing or audio interviews to build up your fan base. Some people present really well on TV and some present better on the page.

-- Develop a community of social media "groupies". You want at least 50 to 100 friends to Digg and Facebook Share your new article or YouTube video as soon as it comes out. Your "groupies" will do most of the heavy lifting for you, and create authentic enthusiasm better than a publicist or expensive ad campaign ever could.
