Atlantic Cape Community College Proves they are Committed to Reduce their Carbon Footprint by Signing an Agreement with North America's Leading Demand Response Provider.
January 30, 2012 (MMD Newswire) -- Atlantic Cape Community College has discovered the financial and environmental benefits of enrolling in a demand response program with Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS).
ECS, the longest tenured demand response provider in North America, is proud to announce that Atlantic Cape Community College has made ECS their official demand response provider. Not only is Atlantic Cape Community College committed to helping ECS spread the awareness of the benefits of demand response, the energy they are planning to curtail will have a profound effect on the local environment. By enrolling in ECS' PowerPay! Demand Response Program, Atlantic Cape Community College has committed to reducing their electrical usage during times of grid instability. Through the Green Roots Initiative, ECS will donate trees to one of America's national forests on behalf of Atlantic Cape Community College for enrolling in one of their programs.
"Atlantic Cape Community College has worked hard over the past few years to find more efficient, less costly ways to provide a comfortable working and learning environment at its campuses," commented Dr. Richard Perniciaro, dean of facilities, planning and research at Atlantic Cape. "The college has updated its equipment by using modular systems to be more flexible, which allows the college to run only the equipment required depending on the weather. The ability to reduce Atlantic Cape's energy usage when needed to help the region, while still providing adequate comfort at peak times, fulfills Atlantic Cape's commitment to be good stewards of the environment while keeping costs under control."
ECS continues to be the leading authority on demand response and the largest, privately held full-service demand response provider in North America. Since its inception in 2001, ECS has experienced considerable growth and now represents over 10,000 customers nationwide. PowerPay! participants are paid for agreeing to voluntarily reduce electric consumption for a short period of time during critical periods of demand. Participants are typically asked to decrease their electricity usage only when the electric grid is strained and in need of help to avoid brownouts or blackouts.
"We are extremely pleased to have Atlantic Cape Community College as an ECS customer," remarked Jim Korczykowski, President of ECS, "they will now begin to see significant payments without exposing themselves to any risk whatsoever. Clearly, Atlantic Cape Community College is serious about reducing their carbon footprint and increasing grid stability within their community."
Atlantic Cape Community College is a comprehensive, two-year college offering flexible, affordable learning for students of all ages.
