Call for Entries: May Nude Art Contest

New York, NY – April 3, 2008 – BAREBRUSH.com invites all visual artists to submit art of the nude for the May 2008 Nudes-of-the-Month art calendar contest. Prizes. Deadline April 23, 2008.

Ilene Skeen, founder and CEO of barebrush, is pleased to announce award-winning artist Robert W. Pillsbury as guest curator for May 2008 Nudes-of-the-Month contest.

Robert studied with noted figurative artist and author, Joseph Sheppard, at the Maryland Institute College of Art. Pillsbury is an award winning artist, trained in painting and printmaking. Recently he has experienced much interest in his novel encaustic techniques. He is an artist member and juror of awards at the Salmagundi Club in New York City.

Robert's work exhibits a multi-disciplinary fusion of numerous mediums: watercolor, acrylic with oil glazes, graphite and colored pencil mixed with beeswax. Each work combines modernist and classical allusions, possessing a visual beauty and aesthetic cohesion of the two. When asked to curate the May contest  at barebrush, Bob wrote passionately and profoundly,

“The nude as the centerpiece of an artist’s renderings speaks to the core of my life long experience.”

The deadline for contest entries is April 23. All artists who work in this controversial genre are encouraged expose their art (pun intended).  Art entered on or before April 23, 2008 will be automatically considered for both the May and June 2008 Nudes-of-the-Month contests. The curator for the June contest will be announced May 5th.
