What does one get when you combine the greatest academic minds in the world with a world class search engine solution? Answer: Potentially the most powerful, state of the art search engine anywhere.

 

This is precisely what can come of the alliance between academia and technology. As part of a technology program, the University of Copenhagen has been initially granted $350,000 USD by the Danish government to start looking at ways to better optimize database technology with search technology, and the University has decided to partner with Apptus Technology, a leader in the search engine space.

 

In addition to this initial grant, a post graduate grant has also been awarded to the University. These monies will be used to assess algorithmic methods in solving current market database and search issues in the marketplace.

 

“We are very excited and anxious to begin dissolving the boundaries between industry and academia as well as between data base systems and algorithms. If we can embrace each others methods, we and the entire industry will benefit”, says Jesper Larsson, Head of R&D at Apptus. Jesper is also part of the Apptus advisory board that will oversee and manage the project in order to provide researchers at the University of Copenhagen with ideas and feedback on their progress.
