Past and Future Culture by American expatriate Anne Witte seeks to express importance of cultural and multidisciplinary awareness

ST. JEANNET, France (MMD Newswire) March 17, 2010 -- Past and Future Culture by Anne Witte is a collection of interdisciplinary essays combining linguistics, sociology, political science and more, in an effort to consider culture in a globalizing world.

The traditional university approach to studying cultures, Witte says, has been to focus on specific regions. However, in Past and Future Culture, Witte aims to lessen the usual focus on national differences and instead looks at the complex and interdependent factors that determine personal, social, civic and institutional values. By linking geographically diverse peoples and conceptionally diverse ideas, Witte feels that human prosperity and understanding can be enhanced.

Drawing from social science, philosophy, literature, anthropology and more, Witte believes a multidisciplinary awareness is essential for the world today. She explores why culture seems to have little to do with nations, how systems of government respond to changing values and how authority is vital even while ensuring freedom to people. Meant to be a portable cultural manual, Past and Future Culture contains essays, graphs, charts and tables to enhance the ease of cultural learning for professionals, engineers and laypersons from all walks of life.

Past and Future Culture is available for sale online at Amazon.com and other channels. Witte will be in New York City from April 1 to April 30 for speaking engagements and is available for interviews.
