MILLIONDOLLARHOMEPAGE.COM GETS TRUMPED

American college student tries to beat Milliondollarhomepage at its own game

Bloomington, IN - (mmd-news) - - Alex Tew is the kid from Wiltshire, England who engineered a simple plan to raise money for school and then sold nearly one million pixels for one dollar each on milliondollarhomepage.com in less than 4 months.

Now another college student from across the Atlantic is trying his hand at the impossible with the goal of beating Alex to a fully sold out one million pixels.

Erik Lukas, an entrepreneurship major at Indiana University says, “Obviously, it’s not going to be easy. Alex is basically sitting on the finish line, but I’ve got some guerilla marketing ideas up my sleeve that I think can get some momentum going.”

“I am the first pixel competitor to actually put some money into marketing. Everyone else is just throwing a page up and hoping someone gives them a million dollars,” Erik explains. “My plan is to make it even more attractive to advertisers by one-upping Alex and committing to use at least the first $100,000 of advertising revenue to buy more marketing and promotion.“ Erik strongly believes that this reinvestment strategy will exponentially increase the speed with which his advertising money makes more money.

"Every dollar that comes in is going to go right back out to create even more buzz. I plan to ramp up the speed of sales faster than Alex did by pumping the advertising dollars we make right back into this project,” Erik adds. “This way each ad someone buys will increase the reach and power of the site which will directly benefit everyone, except maybe Alex.”

Erik invested a chunk his own money to get the ball rolling and will be reinvesting advertising dollars until he goes broke or beats Alex by filling up his home page first. "It's a gamble, but it's going to be a fun one," Erik says. "Win, lose, or draw.”

Alex’s site has enjoyed a wave of free publicity and string of interview appearances which have kept the site’s pixel sales strong through the Holidays. Alex is using eBay Inc. to auction off the last block of ad space on his site.  The TrumpingAlex.com web site was launched just one week before the eBay auction for Alex's final 1,000 pixels ends.

“This head to head challenge is going to be an interesting experience and hopefully people in both countries will enjoy watching it.” Erik sums it up by saying, “Donald Trump’s photoshopped hair, a little friendly rivalry across the Atlantic, and a race to a million, what’s not to love about it?”
