Alcatraz Seafoods(R) Makes Generous Donation On National Hunger Awareness Day
Santa Rosa, CA -- June 06, 2007 -- Alcatraz Seafoods® has made a generous donation of canned gourmet low mercury Tuna to the Redwood Empire Food Bank on National Hunger Awareness Day. At inception, Alcatraz Seafoods® made a promise to their customers “To be a different kind of seafood company” by offering only all-natural, ocean sustainable seafood.
"We heard about the problem of food banks around the country increasingly drying up.” "But", lamented Lucas, "We never imagined the amount of people they regularly served here in the North Bay."
Don Lindsey, of the Redwood Empire Food Bank states that the Redwood Empire Food Bank regularly services upwards of forty thousand households in the area either directly or indirect though other pantry providers.
According to Darin Lucas, one of the founders of Alcatraz Seafoods®, "Often, the very best business strategy is simply Doing what is right for the community.” “And giving something back rather than looking to take has its own rewards in the long-run.” “We know our gift of canned tuna will not go far enough, but if more people take the time to think and find it in themselves to give a little whenever possible, perhaps, just perhaps someday we won’t need food banks at all.” Says Lucas.
