A new program to TEST for LEAD EXPOSURE in Children, Infants and Toddlers
August 24, 2007

Clearwater, FL -- August, 24, 2007 -- In response to many reports and recalls dealing with the Chinese MIS-manufacturing of children's toys, baby's toys and products in general, American Medical Agents, Inc. today announced a new program to TEST for LEAD EXPOSURE in Children, Infants and Toddlers. The new program is designed to rapidly address the situation by dispatching RNs to private homes and Daycare Centers across the US. The rapid response capabilities of the Agency, set up three years ago to deliver Medical Services to the Elderly, Hospitals and Nursing homes will now be utilized to calm the exposed nerves of parents all across the US.

A BABYS-R-US' spokesperson told our interviewer “we just don't know where to send angry and frustrated parents, we've been sending them to the local emergency rooms, we don't know what else to do. It's a real problem.”

Parents have been asking where to go to get quality testing of blood, hair and urine for weeks now since BABYS-R-US' parent company TOYS-R-US announced the recall of thousands of products from their shelves because of LEAD CONTAMINATION found in products manufactured in CHINA. BABYS-R-US has now confirmed that it's BIB products have been found to contain LEAD on the fringe vinyl and are exchanging them for ALL COTTON BIB products since last week. (see attached CNN story)

Our interviewer also called the local non-profit Morton Plant Hospital Emergency room in Clearwater and was told, “we cannot test the children here you'd have to go to the local lab to get it done, it is beyond our capabilities”. Then he called the lab locally, LABCORP and they said, “we don't have the capability locally to perform the ICP/MS ( Inductively Coupled Plasma and Mass Spectrometry Analysis Tests ) test here you'd could leave a sample and we would get back to you in 2-4 weeks with an answer.” Asked what that would cost the, clinician said “they would have to get back to us.”

American Medical Agents, Inc. has contracted with labs in Pennsylvania and Atlanta to do the tests in 2 days and the parents would have an answer within three to four days. For less than $150. In the blood, 95-98% of all the inorganic LEAD is bound in the Erythrocytes, the red blood cells.

Chronic and even SHORT TERM exposure WILL cause LEAD to accumulate in the Bones, Teeth, Liver and Brain.

Advanced Lead Intoxication will result in LEAD Encephalopathy of the Brain, characterized by Cerebral Edema(SWELLING), COMA and Convulsions. Children are especially susceptible to Neurologic damage from LEAD and acute Neurologic Toxicity may develop without previous symptoms. High Blood, Urine or Hair follicle, Lead concentrations are monitored by AMA to assess toxicity and the future course of treatment prescribed by the child's Pediatrician. «IQ has been known to drop by as much as 50% from LEAD EXPOSURE»says the FDA spokesperson we spoke with.

A local parent of two, one infant and a school age child had the following to say, “at least the medical community in this country are taking this seriously, maybe we can protect our kids from becoming zombies from this. No wonder Chinese kids are smarter than American kids, I wonder how long this has been going on.”

Parents can call 24 hours a day to the AMA national FREE hot line staffed by 30 agents ready to handle any kind of testing of children...toll free 800-775-0023.
The hotline is open 7 days a week and 365 days a year. “Calling early will prevent a rash of problems later” an AMA company spokesperson told our interviewer.
