PRESS RELEASE:

Author Says Book of Mormon Sealed Portion Condones Gay Marriage and Early Christianity Supported Gay Relationships

September 23, 2008 -- Almost two centuries ago, LDS Church founder Joseph Smith claimed to have translated and published an ancient American record known as the Book of Mormon.  "This book is the cornerstone of the modern Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the same religious group that is privately organizing its membership in support of California Proposition 8," states Christopher a former devout member of the LDS Church.

According to Mormon belief Joseph Smith claimed that two-thirds (2/3) of the record written upon gold plates was sealed and could not be translated when the original book was published in 1830. In 1987, Christopher who was then employed as a Security Officer at the Salt Lake City Church headquarters, claimed to have received instructions to translate and publish the sealed portion of the ancient record. The record was translated and first published in 2004 as The Sealed Portion—The Final Testament of Jesus Christ. (http://thesealedportion.com)  Christopher states, "The book gives direct insight into the life of Jesus and his disciples, two of which were openly gay."  Christopher has written an expose on the homosexual relationship between two of the original apostles of Jesus using other New Testament scripture and insight to back up the claim.

Though the LDS Church leadership has rejected the claim that the sealed portion of the Book of Mormon has been translated, it has taken forceful steps to denounce the work and demean the character of the translator. In spite of the LDS Church’s rejection of the work, many devout LDS members who have read the translation of the sealed portion have accepted it and left mainstream Mormonism.
